The Kona Room was born out of a simple frustration: India has an extraordinary wealth of independent musical talent, and almost no platform that treats it with the seriousness it deserves. We built this to change that.
Tiny Desk, but rooted in India.
Inspired by NPR's iconic Tiny Desk Concert series, The Kona Room is an intimate, studio-quality live recording series for India's independent artists. We set up a cozy room, invite 2-3 artists to perform a 4-5 song set, record it with professional multi-camera video and studio-quality audio, and share it with the world.
The audience is small and curated — RSVP-only, pay what you want. Door proceeds go to the artists and the people who make the session happen.
The video lives on our YouTube channel. The artist gets the Instagram Collab post, the snippets, and the promotion. We grow together.
